Parents
Kappa Iota honors and strives to actively include the parents of each one of our sisters. Joining any form of Greek Life raises many questions, and we believe it is extremely important that you understand the dynamics of our sorority. Every month, parents of our members receive a newsletter consisting of entries from members on the Executive Council and the Programming Council describing all of the activities our chapter is coordinating and what we have accomplished that month. This newsletter strengthens the bridge between the chapter and parents of the members, providing an avenue in which parents can constantly be updated in a personal manner. Below are a few questions that aim to put any of your concerns at ease. If you have any other questions, please contact us and we will be more than willing to provide helpful information!
What does Zeta Tau Alpha stand for?
Zeta Tau Alpha is committed to leadership development and personal growth, academic achievement, friendship, sisterhood, and the service of others. We are heavily involved with supporting our philanthropy, breast cancer awareness and education, as well as serving the community that surrounds us. Zeta works to build a pure and nobler womanhood in the world.
What is Zeta Tau Alpha’s reputation on campus? What is its reputation nationally?
More than 90% of Kappa Iota’s members are involved on Moravian University's campus in groups and organizations besides Zeta Tau Alpha, and many of our sisters withhold leadership positions in other organizations across campus! Our letters can be seen proudly worn by members involved in numerous sports teams, academic clubs (such as USG), IMPACT (student programming group), Association of Peer Educators, our student ambassador group, music ensembles, the Student Nursing Association, Colleges against Cancer, and countless other clubs and organizations. Zeta Tau Alpha is the third largest member of the National Panhellenic Conference with 215,000 initiated members, 148 active collegiate chapters, and 250 active alumnae chapters. Zeta Tau Alpha has partnerships with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, the National Football League, and Yoplait® Yogurt all designed to support our national philanthropy, breast cancer education and awareness. All of the Fraternity’s philanthropic and fundraising activities are mechanized by the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation (ZTAF). In addition to designing the leading pathways for the promotion of breast cancer education and awareness, the Foundation provides $275,000 in scholarships annually and sponsors critical educational and leadership opportunities for all members.
What does Zeta Tau Alpha offer and provide? How does my child benefit from this organization?
Zeta Tau Alpha is forever, providing lifelong bonds of sisterhood and countless memories that combine to form what I believe is the most prized gift received from membership with Zeta Tau Alpha. In addition, Zeta Tau Alpha provides the means to cultivate and grow an individual’s leadership qualities by offering leadership positions within our executive and programming councils, as well as roles within Moravian’s Panhellenic group and Greek Council. It is strongly believed that service within a community unlocks the door to becoming a humble individual, and strengthens such values as kindness and generosity. Zeta Tau Alpha promotes this by offering a variety of service opportunities centered within the community and numerous ways to fundraise for our philanthropy. Through leadership, service, sisterhood, and the stress for scholastic excellence, Zeta enables each member to blossom into a well-rounded young woman.
What is the purpose of chapter dues?
Chapter dues act as the financial arm for each individual chapter. Dues are vital to each chapter, accounting for national dues, housing fees, and financing the sisterhood and social events that allow the chapter to thrive and grow. Much of the money is returned back to the Chapter to fund the budgets for each position on EC and PC. For more specific information regarding dues, feel free to contact our VP of Finance whose information can be found on our "Officers" page.
Does Zeta Tau Alpha haze?
The answer is plain and simple; NO! Zeta Tau Alpha solemnly and strictly follows a concrete no hazing policy that is advocated by "My Sister My Responsibility" and other national programs. Visit our national website for Zeta Tau Alpha's policies.
